Speaking Of Tag....

My cousin Lara recently tagged me to participate in a blogging challenge.  It's taken me a few days to finally sit down and do it, during which time I have pondered on tagging and my experience with it.  I actually have quite the monumental tag story.  Not a blog tag story- -an actual tag, like on the playground tag, story.  It deserves documenting so why not here?  While we're talking about tagging and all.

It was my senior year.  A bunch of our friends (maybe 12-15 of us?) were hanging out one night, trying to dream up something fun to do.  I offered the idea of playing tag at a nearby playground and everyone thought it would be fun so we were on our way.

It was late.  11:00 pm or so?  Maybe later.  It was completely dark.  All the more fun, right?

We got playing.  Everyone was having a good time.  I got tagged and started chasing my friend Doug.  I was running as fast as I could and he was pulling away from me (a.k.a. we were hauling).  Doug started running straight toward the tri-level jungle bars (I don't know their official name- -you know the bars that stand at three levels?  In elementary school we used to tie ourselves to them with our sweaters and swing round and round on them?)  Anyway.  He was running straight toward them and I thought in my mind, "Surely he knows they're there," and just kept chasing him.  Well in a matter of seconds, when he lost no momentum as he approached the lowest bar, I yelled, "Doug!  There's a bar!!"  Just then, he saw the bar and tried to duck under it but it was too late.

He caught the bar with the top of his head and it threw him straight to the ground on his back.  He hit it so hard!  To this day I can hear the "dong" sound the bar made when he hit it.  I immediately started laughing and applauding him, "Dude!  That was such a hard hit!"  As I got closer to him, he leaned up and looked at me.  I was standing right in the way of the street light so I stepped away to let the light shine and get a look at him.  His face was covered in blood and my heart dropped.  "Uh, guys......we need help!"  Everyone came out from hiding and we ran him to the hospital.

Long story short, when he hit the bar with the crown of his head, it threw his head back and his jaw caught the bar on his way down.  Not only did his jaw catch the bar, but it hit it so hard that it dislocated it.  On both sides.  To make it worse, when the doctor wired it back together he didn't line it up straight so now he has a crooked smile.  Not crooked enough to really notice, except for those of us who know what happened.

If you're wondering if Doug and I are still friends, the answer is yes.  He was a good sport and didn't hate me for what happened that night.  Actually, the fact that that night gave us one of our greatest high school stories/memories made it all worth it.  Anyone who knows me and my high school friends is surprised we're still alive today!

So that's my story.  Now on to the blog challenge.

Here are the rules of the challenge:
1 - you must post the rules.
2 - post eleven fun facts about yourself on the blog post
3 - answer the eleven questions the tagger set for you in their post
4 - create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged
5 - tag eleven people and link them on your post
6 - let them know you've tagged them!

ELEVEN FUN FACTS ABOUT ME:
1. Eleven is my favorite number and is probably the biggest reason I wanted to make sure to complete this challenge.  Eleven, eleven, eleven.  It's a psychological thing.
2. Every day that passes, I realize more and more just how OCD I am.  Organized, systematic, patterened, consistent.  These are all adjectives that could well describe what I try to make of my life.  Great to a certain point.  Amazingly unreasonable past that point.  Ask Tyson.
3.  I never feel bad about eating sweets.  Especially homemade sweets.
4.  I am an adrenaline junky.  Big time.
5.  I get serious road rage when it comes to incompetent drivers.  Don't even get me started.....
6.  I am 38 weeks pregnant and still sleeping on my stomach.
7.  All I ever wanted for my honeymoon was to stay at Tyson's cabin.  My dream came true when he was the man I married =0)  (Disclaimer: I knew Tyson in high school but I never even thought about dating him, let alone marrying him.  It wasn't until after our missions that we pursued each other and my honeymoon dreams came within reach.)
8.  I have serious multi-tasking issues.  Unless I'm doing more than two things at once I feel unproductive.  I need to learn that reading the mail while I drive is not acceptable.
9.  I've been pulled over 30+ times in the last 10 years but only 10 of those pull overs resulted in tickets  =0)
10.  I enjoy doing laundry.
11.  I've never read Twilight or Harry Potter.  And I don't feel even a little bit bad about it.

LARA'S ELEVEN QUESTIONS:
1. What is your favorite color and why?  Green!  Why?  I don't know.  I think it says a lot about me though.
2. There is a fire and you have like 2 minutes to grab stuff. What do you grab? (Assuming it's my house that's on fire?)  Teryn, my purse, our 72 hour kits, and my computer.  I could probably grab more than that in 2 minutes, but those would be my must-haves.
3. What do you listen to when you clean?  The Colbie Caillat station on Pandora.
4. What is your favorite snack?  Cold cereal or graham crackers and cottage cheese.
5. If you could have a super power what would it be?  Invisibility.  Like Violet on The Incredibles.  That would be awesome.
6. What is your favorite book?  I love David Pelzer's story.
7. What is your dream vacation?  Korea and Japan!  Tyson and I would die to visit our missions again.
8. If you could name yourself, what would be your name?  Probably one of the two girl names I have picked out for my daughters, which after long last I've decided not to divulge =0)
9. What do you think is your strongest attribute/characteristic?  Diligence.  Rarely do I start something that I don't finish and if I'm going to do something I do it well.
10. Who is your favorite celebrity and why?  Oh goodness, I can't choose just one.  Movie Celebrities?  I love Will Smith, Mark Wahlberg, Sandra Bullock, John Malkovich, Tom Hanks, and Denzel Washington, just to name a few.  Music celebrities?  Colbie Caillat, Rascal Flatts, Christina Perri, Coldplay.  TV Celebrities?  Ellen and Gregory House.  Sports Celebrities?  Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen.  I'll stop there.
11. What is your favorite movie?  The Italian Job, hands down.  And any other intelligent burglary,  beat-the-system, espionage-ish movie.  Oceans Eleven, Red, Gone In 60 Seconds, Taken, Entrapment.  You get the idea.

MY ELEVEN QUESTIONS:
1.  When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?
2.  If you could only choose one, which food group would you choose to live on?
3.  Your favorite room in your house?
4.  If you could experience life in any decade in time, which would you choose?
5.  Cooking spice you use for everything?
6.  If you could do anything in the world and get paid for it what would it be?
7.  Which is more important- -painted finger nails or painted toe nails?
8. If you could change your nationality, which would you be?
9.  Most begrudged household chore?
10.  If you could join any singer/band on tour, who would you choose?
11.  What is your greatest phobia?
