Thank heaven for blogs where venting is welcome and everything goes.
Let me begin with yesterday.
Teryn had a long, restless night. That doesn't happen very often, so we know something is going on when it does. He felt warm so I gave him some Tylenol and Tyson unzipped his jammies enough to give him some air. When morning came and I got him out of bed all he wanted to do was snuggle. Another odd thing. I knew he was coming down with something.
Keven and Jessica brought their beautiful baby girl to get her prints done and then we were on our way to Vernal. I realized half way there that I left my phone at home.
When we arrived at Tyson's mom's house we tried to get Teryn to eat before we put him down for a nap. No such luck. We laid him down and I ran errands while he slept, including picking up a space heater to hopefully help keep our propane bill down and buying some D-CON to do something about our mouse situation. Later in the afternoon we met the youth from our ward at the temple to do Baptisms For The Dead. When we got back to Michelle's house, Teryn had a fever and wasn't feeling well. We decided we would stick around for the night and skip church this morning.
His fever broke and he was finally able to sleep soundly after midnight. We laid low today and didn't come home until 7:00 tonight. Upon our arrival Tyson called my phone to help me find it. It must have died while we were away because it's nowhere to be heard or found. Nice. Then Tyson pulled the space heater out of the box, plugged it in, and it blew a breaker. Nice. We tried to plug it in a few other outlets but it doesn't turn on at all. I have to take it back. Nice.
I placed a few boxes of D-CON in the off-limit curtain room upstairs tonight so we'll see what we can do about these mice. The next question is, what's the bigger-than-a-mouse thing in our ceiling/attic above our master bedroom? We hear it gnawing and scratching around every night. I think we'll try setting a live trap and see what we come up with.
*sigh*
As for the name claim that I mentioned a few days back. A few replies to the comments and questions left by a few of you:
1) None of the names we've chosen are on the top ten or even top hundred list. Which is exactly why you're right, we shouldn't be stressed about it. But what if......what if someone gets the same idea in their head? Our names aren't so off-the-wall and original that there's no way someone else could come up with them. In fact, I'd never heard of anyone with the names of any that I love until moving home and now I know of two boys with two of my names. I'm still going to use them because I love them so much, but what the heck! One of them is Ryder, by the way. Which will be the name of the soon-to-debut second son.
2) I understand about picking names for certain before a baby is born because there are always those kids with names completely unlike them. But then again, let's take Teryn for example. He changed completely within his first month of life, so can choosing a name for certain after seeing your just-born baby be all that accurate anyway? You know what I mean?
3) What happens if I claim a name and someone else that also loved that name but didn't tell anyone uses it anyway, would I be bugged? I don't think I would be. The issue I have is just knowing I didn't get my names from anyone else. That's why I'll still use the two boy names that I love even though I now know of two other boys with the same names. I've loved them for years. Does part of me wish I had claimed them before I learned about these other two boys? Yes. Just for the sake of knowing, like I said, I didn't get the ideas from anybody else.
4) What if I claim a girl's name but I only have boys? Then I'll give my girl name ideas to my best friends so somebody can use them! I love them too much for them to never be used =0)
I think I've decided I won't broadcast my names publicly, but I'll be happy to share with those of you who are personally curious. You can tell me your secret names too =0)

I love your pros and cons of calling 'dibs' on a baby name:) Ryan and I have made sure to tell our families the baby names that we absolutely LOVE so that they don't steal them and vice-versa. I'm not worried about friend's babies having the same names. That just happens no matter what:)
ReplyDeleteSpace heater recommendation: Ace Hardware down in Roosevelt had an inexpensive one that had an option of only running on 750 watts (vs.1500 which is a typical space heater wattage) and it probably won't trip your breaker. 1500 watts is just too much for the electrical in most houses. It'll run your power bill through the roof anyway.
Anyways-good luck with the last of this little pregnancy! Can't wait to see your new little guy:)
glad we got to see you guys! love your place and hopefully the heating situation will work! SINCE your blog isn't private, maybe it's a good thing you don't spill th ebeans of the names! :) so excited for Ryder to come!
