May First Thru Sixteenth

Is May really halfway over already?????  What the??

The first week of the month was crazy.  It was the last week of the semester which meant finals, move-outs, and GRADUATION!! Tyson graduated!! Woo hoo!  He now has two Bachelor's Degrees in Political Science and Economics and I could not be more proud of him!  (p.s. He didn't walk so don't ask for pictures =0)  To express my pride and appreciation I, along with his and my parents, gave him money to buy an
iPad 2.  He was pleasantly surprised and so excited because it's the only thing he's been wanting for months.  Now he's taking a few weeks off and he'll be back to school at Bridgerland next week.

Move-outs were bittersweet.  I made friends with a handful of tenants so it was sad to watch them pack up and leave!  The girls next door especially.  They have their own deserving post coming soon.  Teryn had a break down when he realized they were gone.  Sad day.

Since all the students left we have just been working to get everything clean and ready for the Summer Citizens to arrive.  We've had a little bit of down time which has been W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L.  So wonderful.  Tyson and I have felt stressed and quite distant for the past few months but I didn't realize how much of that was fostered by our everyday management duties.  Since the students have been gone we are back to feeling newlywed again and it's refreshing.

Last Friday, my friends Kate and Dena (2 of the girls next door) came to visit and spend the night and first thing Saturday morning before any of us woke Tyson went for a hike.  It was just what he needed!  He itches terribly to get outside and it makes me happy to see him so fulfilled.  He's planning a hike to King's Peak this summer and it's all he's going to think about until he gets there.  Call him Mountain Man Todd.

Last Saturday evening we walked to a nearby park where the Elder's quorum was having a BBQ.  On the walk home, we were about 1/2 block away from our apartment when someone driving by honked and slowed to wave at us.  They rolled down their window and without thinking I waved back.  When they kept waving and smiling I looked closer and to my surprise it was Susie Dye!!  And then I walked closer and looked to the driver.....it was Nichole!  Small, small world!!  I haven't seen her since I got married 2 years ago and what do you know, we run into each other on the streets of Logan.  It was fun to see her and meet her little
(almost 2 year old) girl!

Then yesterday......yesterday.....what did we do yesterday?  Hmm.
Nothing out of the ordinary.

But today!  Oh today, you made me tired.  Today, we wrapped up the cleaning and maintenance of the apartments and took last notes of loose ends to tie before Thursday.  Tyson scrubbed and filled the hot tub and cleaned up after the mess the wind blew into the pool over the weekend.  Pool maintenance NEVER ends, by the way.  I will never have a pool.  This afternoon my neighbor (who is my Beehive adviser) and I took a walk to the park so we could get out of our apartments.  We planned activities while our sons (who are only 10 days apart) played on the playground.  We got talking with another man who was there with his son and while we chatted, a lady approached us asking where she could find Lindstrom Park.  It was about 2 miles away from the park we were at and she was walking but she was from Alaska and more than happy that we at least had sidewalks to walk on!  We gave her directions and sent her on her way but after my friend and I walked home I jumped in my van to see if I could track her down.  I found her about 3/4 mile away from Lindstrom Park and pulled over to offer her a ride.  She hopped right in and thanked me- -I told her I hoped she didn't think I was a creeper but she said that type of thing is quite common where she is from so she appreciated it.  She just arrived here last week to begin her graduate studies at USU.  I welcomed her to Logan and told her I hope to run into her again.  We'll see!

And now I'm tired.  But I have some pictures to show and possibly a few more posts to write.  Enjoy!
