Since discovering Blurb (thanks cousin Wendy!), I've resolved to be better about updating our blog. After Christmas, I created 2 blog books- -one for 2009 and another for 2010. It's so neat! And I've decided it's a great way to keep our family's history. SO- -I'm going to take the time to blog during my down-time on Sundays in attempt to create a more complete history of the Todd family. I've found myself reading during every spare minute of down-time I have throughout the week- -but I'll take a break from it on Sunday and record our family happenings.
Therefore- -our blog is going to become, basically, more of a journal. Therefore- -becoming your boredom. Well, some entries. Not all. I'll be exciting sometimes too. Read at your own discretion =0)
Since January 1, 2011, we've had a few monumental events.
Tyson and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary a little early with our night at the Providence Inn (as previously mentioned.) We stayed Thursday night, January 6th while Dennis and Michelle took care of Teryn.
We returned home Friday morning and later that afternoon left for Provo to celebrate Grandma Miller's 80th birthday. All of her posterity, minus 2, were there-plus plenty of friends and neighbors!! It was quite a party!
Two days later, January 9th, we traveled to Kaysville for Tyson's cousin Andrew Todd's farewell. He will be serving in Chile. He gave a great talk and we enjoyed spending time with the Todd family afterward. I especially enjoyed talking with Michele Todd about books- -she gave me some good suggestions to add to my list.
On our way home, we stopped in Ogden and had dinner at Mykel's and Camille's house with their family, along with Ty, Emily, and Bella. Somehow, we got talking about Grandma Henrie while we ate and had some good laughs. It was a lot of fun to hear everyone's memories of her. She was one feisty lady- -full of life!!
The next day, January 10th, school started. This semester is Tyson's last semester! His new schedule is great- -he works Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and goes to school Tuesday and Thursday. He loves it, but I think I love it more =0) It's wonderful having more time with him at home. Especially for Teryn. He loves his daddy.
School starting also meant Christmas Break was over and all the students are back. Not necessarily one of the most exciting events of the new year, but a part of our life, nonetheless. We didn't even have to look out the window to know they returned- -all it took was feeling the rumble of girls running by our door and hearing the sound of snow-tireless cars peeling out in the parking lot. The best part was watching (on our security cameras) 2 kids hop our pool fences to take a short cut to another apartment complex. ?????? There are some things I'll never understand.
Teryn has been army crawling for quite some time now- -although I prefer to call it alligator crawling. It's more of a grab and pull, grab and pull, motion, followed by a lizard-like body squirm. But last week he figured out how to use his knees! Which added a few MPH to his speed. Now he looks more like a bulldog, with his stout, wide-spread arms. Funny kid.
Then yesterday, January 15th, my family got together in Ogden to spend time with Brandon. He, Heidi, and Jake were planning to travel up from Arizona for a visit, but then Heidi and Jake stayed behind to be with Heidi's father who just had surgery. Brandon brought his RC helicopter and Mykel pulled his out too. They, along with Shane and Ty, just flew them around the house. RC machines bring out the little boys in my brothers- -it's pretty funny.
And today, Brandon and Breanna joined us for dinner. I made chili, Tyson made cornbread, Brandon made brownies, and Breanna brought Moose Tracks ice cream. D.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s. We had a great time. Teryn especially had fun with his uncle Brandon.
While we ate, my mom called and I didn't answer since we had company. I called her back after everyone left and she let me know that my dog Phatty passed away. Good ol' Phatty. He was the runt from the liter of puppies my dog Brows had when I was a junior in high school- -so he was about 7 years old. I got Brows (named for her distinct brown eyebrows that stood out amongst her solid black fur) from my high school boyfriend Justin Bastian. She bred with a chocolate lab from the neighborhood and Phatty came out looking like a chocolate lab. Thinking he would grow up to be lean and trim like a chocolate lab, I thought it would be funny to name him Phatty. Well. He got fat. So it didn't turn out to be so funny. But his name wasn't Fatty- -it was Phatty. So I guess it wasn't so bad. He was a good dog- -one of the most well mannered dogs I've ever known. He'll be missed.
So that's the update- -what's happened in our lives since 1/1/11. (If you're still reading, perhaps it wasn't that boring?? I appreciate any eyes still present. I'll stop now =0)

Nah, not boring. Not boring to me!
ReplyDeleteSad news about Phatty!!! He will be missed. Such a sweet dog.
