Day 20

DAY 20: YOUR VIEWS ON DRUGS AND ALCOHOL

I could get religious about this question but there's nothing I would say that isn't mentioned here. Check it out if you'd like.

Aside from religious views- -I don't think I need to convince anyone here that drugs and alcohol aren't good. There's no question that drugs and alcohol take a toll on health and inhibit normal thinking. When used to the point of addiction, relationships are ruined, families are torn apart, and sometimes people die. Who, in their right mind, desires any of that? I don't think the people who start using drugs and have a drink now and then ever intend to get addicted. Sadly, I think more often than not, it starts with that "just once won't hurt" frame of mind. I know too many good people who use drugs or alcohol. I feel sad about their addictions, but I don't think their addictions define them. I have hope that they will work to overcome them.

There is, however, one group of addicts that I have a really hard time with. That is--pregnant women who knowingly use drugs and alcohol during their pregnancy. Isn't the life of a child worth quitting for? Even if the pregnancy wasn't chosen- -that baby is helpless, hopeless, and lifeless if it's mother doesn't stop.

I'm going to end this post before I get upset.
