Blessing Day

Ryder was blessed on Sunday, May 6th.  Tyson gave him a beautiful blessing and the circle was filled with every male family member that could make it.

The outfit I made barely fit.  Well, let me rephrase that.  It fit, but I was barely able to get it on him.  If I had video taped what it took to get him in it, the tape could easily vouch as proof of child abuse.  The material I used to line it isn't stretchy at all and you can see the neck (oh wait, no you can't) wasn't big enough to get his head through.  There's a velcro opening down the back to allow for expansion, but not enough.  Luckily his body is smaller than his head so I was able to tug and pull it from the bottom up.  Then the tricky part was squeezing his arms through the little sleeves.  Oh my.  Poor kid.  And then I had to get him out of it.  I almost reached for the scissors to cut it off.  As for the booties, they didn't last even long enough to snap a picture.  Next time I decide to make a blessing outfit, I should do it weeks rather than months before the date.  Maybe then my measurements will be more accurate.

Even so, he looked pretty darn cute.

Two very blessed parents.

His very first blow out.  And of course it's in his blessing outfit.

 Little charmer.

He shared the day with his cousin Auryon Shea Henrie.

She's pretty darn cute too!

I can't even begin to tell you what your comment on my blog meant to me today. I read it while I was in line at the store and started to cry. I really really needed it.

Keep blogging, you are great at it!

  4. The outfit you made really is adorable! If you want to use the booties again or "salvage" them for future generations, you could try weaving some ribbon in between crochet knots starting in the middle (back of heel) to the middle (ankle). Then you can tie it around the ankle and it won't come off, at least not so easily. We all know and have experienced the Houdini effect some newborns have! Congratulations. PS. We don't know eachother, but I thought since I had some "nugget" of advice for your booties (and since it's always nice to get comments)that I would leave one! Have a great day!
