Well now I know what it takes for a girl to get more than 10 comments.
Get pregnant ;)
Thank you for all your congratulations and well wishes! We are very excited.

It was interesting to find out how many of you don't take pregnancy tests and just wait for pregnancy symptoms to manifest themselves. I initially thought, "that's a great idea!" but quickly remembered a number of reasons
why I choose the AHPT route:
why I choose the AHPT route:
1) I didn't feel sick until about 6-8 weeks with Teryn and my body didn't really start changing until after my 1st trimester. I would like to know I'm pregnant
before that point.
before that point.
2) Additionally, I'm a who-knows-when-it's-going-to-happen menses experiencer*. The absence of a menstrual cycle is not abnormal, 3-4 cycles a year is normal.

3) With that comes the who-knows-when-it's-going-to-happen ovulation. Not so great for planning babies. (After about 4 months of trying with no success I tried ovulation tests so we would know when to try. One 7-day and two 20-day ovulation test kits with nothing but negative results didn't help so we just tried as we were able. In April I had a treatment of Provera and we're finally pregnant.)
4) I like to know whether I'm pregnant or not when Fast Sunday rolls around. While we are "trying", I take a pregnancy test every pre-Fast Sunday Saturday to make sure.
5) Plus, with no symptoms, it's nice to find out there's a good reason for my pants feeling a little snug.
6) It's a relief to know as early as possible so "trying" is no longer a chore. Every other day so you don't miss your window of opportunity is very tiring and nearly impossible with our current life schedule. Now we know we're pregnant, we can go back to having fun again. (Is that too much information? Sorry =0)
7) My incredible doctor has so many patients that I have to call at least a month in advance to schedule an appointment. I called as soon as I knew I was pregnant and the earliest he can see me is July 13th- -a week before I begin my 2nd trimester.
You get the picture.
Oh, and I'll add a number 8) I make better meal choices when I know I'm pregnant so I like to know as early as possible. Tonight was the perfect example. Little Ceasar's Triple Meat Treat Pizza with Crazy Bread or peanut butter and banana on wheat bread. I chose the latter. A week ago I would have chosen the pizza.
What are your reasons for taking ADHTs or waiting for symptoms?
* Experiencer is listed on dictionary.com. I didn't even make that up.
Side Note: those of you who followed my last pregnancy already know that I take bare-bellied pregnancy pictures. I think it shows more and I guess I'm just open and honest like that. Forgive me if you find it offensive. It's for my record, not your entertainment =0)
Ah. Number two clears things up nicely. I chart my cycle (for birth control purposes as well as getting pregnant purposes), thus I know right off when things are abnormal. (Plus immediate symptoms.) Irregular cycling would for sure put a hitch in the old get-along.
ReplyDeleteYay Dani! Congratulations girl :)
ReplyDeleteAha! I am regular to a FAULT. If I am more than three days late, I am pregnant. Three cycles a year sounds like a piece of heaven, seriously.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have other immediate symptoms though - it takes a few weeks for the constant hunger/dizziness/fatigue to kick in - and I don't get bigger for at least three months.
Also.... I have yet to experience "trying" for a baby. (Fertility wonders, over here.) So maybe that's the main reason why I'm not chomping at the bit to find out. Ahem.
3 cycles a year was HEAVEN until I wanted to think about children. My pre-marital exam doc told me my chances of getting pregnant AT ALL were not likely. Hence the trying sooner-than-later and getting a 1st-year-anniversary baby =0) For sanity's sake I wish I were regular! It would make things much easier =0)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that some people don't take ADHT's!!! I like to know I'm pregnant when I'm pregnant. (Even though I'm the kind that gets pregnant if I'm not using any birth control and my husband walks in the room)
ReplyDeleteI get SO sick when I am pregnant, that with Cohen, I knew at least a week before I was late. The pregnant sick feels different than flu-like sick. I took test after test because I *knew* I was, but it was too early so they kept showing up negative until about a week later. I take them just because I like to know for sure. I can also relate to trying forever. It took us well over a year to get pregnant with Taylor, it was awful! We got lucky with Cohen and got pregnant the first time we tried, it was so much less stressful!
ReplyDeleteOne more thing - I was able to get into the doctor the day (hour) I called to make an appointment. Thank you, Basin.
ReplyDeleteMan can i just say you crack me up! Your humor is the best :D I'm very excited for you guys :) Remember I still will take picture of your Teryn anytime :~)
