Perfect

Tyson's dad, Greg, is surprisingly "up" on music. "Up", as in, up-to-date. He always surprises us with his latest favorites. We got talking about music while he was here for Tyson's surgery and he mentioned this song by P!nk. Tyson and I had never heard it, so we looked it up on Youtube.

Amazing. I think it's one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard and the music video is deeply moving. Sad to think of the truth behind it- -heart breaking to know it's reality in the world.

The song has been stuck in my head and I can't stop thinking about the story it portrays. For me, the most powerful clip in the video is when the obviously-upset mother is screaming at her daughter and trying to change the clothes she wears and the way she looks.  Can't she see how it hurts her daughter? I admit- -the girl's choice of clothing, hairdo, make up, etc. is out of my mind's "norm" and I can't guarantee that if I were her mother I wouldn't feel as her mother feels. That realization broke my heart. It made me recognize that I accept out-of-the-"norm" thoughts, but not out-of-the-"norm" appearances.  Shame on me. This music video influenced me to change. I will love my children, regardless of their styles. I expect them to have differing personalities- -how could I not expect them to have differing looks? I never want to make my children feel less than perfect. Never.

What clip from the video most-moved you?

  1. Wow what a video...made me think alot about life and how I hope that I can make my kids feel like they are perfect!!! My favorite part though was where the little girl is sitting on the little boys back and pulling his hair because I can see my little Hadley doing that...she doesn't take crap from anyone...lol
